Around Christmas time, I always do a photo swap with a photographer friend for holiday photos. 🙂 This year, I happened to come upon a makeup artists that was also willing to do a swap. She wasn’t a typical makeup artist though… she was an absolutely spectacular one.
Around January, Lindsey Jones of Lindsey Jones Makeup Artistry contacted me back and was finally ready for their photoshoot. What she had in mind was something I had always avoided to do – due to the fact that indoor photography can be challenging if lighting is bad. But despite this fear of the unknown and also needing to do this solo, I was also very much looking forward to doing this photoshoot. Honestly, I had been wanting to do something like this for a long time.
It turned out better than I expected and I felt, it was probably one of my favorite if not best photoshoots of all time.
When I arrived, everything was ready and almost perfect. The lighting was perfect. The room and environment was all set and ready. And, despite a pretty sick toddler, everything turned out better than I had hoped or could ask for. Lindsey and Harlin were both a joy to work with.
We had awesome moments. We had not so great moments. We had some moments where we needed to adjust things and change things up. But in the end, this was all about life and how unpredictable life really is. It was totally unposed – because posing didn’t work at all in this situation. All Lindsey did was to play with Harlin, as much as she could, and just enjoy an awesome Sunday morning with her daughter – doing things they loved most! It was in the midst of that play time that all the real smiles showed up.
Soo…. without further ado, here is are the photos documenting the “daily” life of Lindsey and her beautiful daughter Harlin (18 mo at this time).
Side note… This is how my makeup turned out for our photoshoot! 🙂
